CRO Academy in February 2026

The now fourth CRO Academy took place on 12 and 13 February at our premises in Starnberg. Like the day-to-day work of a CRO, it is designed to be demanding: in just two days, participants go through all phases of a CRO mandate. This means intensive work and efficient knowledge transfer.

Holistic view of the CRO – crisis communication module expanded

Over the two days, experts from Haselhorst Associates, together with our partners from Freshfields, Greenberg Traurig, Willkie and Rothschild, spoke about corporate crises and insolvency prevention, legal aspects and liability risks, instruments of financial, strategic and operational restructuring, as well as the transition back into regular operations. The theoretical knowledge was repeatedly underpinned by practical examples, and possible approaches were discussed by the participants.

We expanded the module on crisis communication, which plays a role that should not be underestimated in the success of a CRO mandate and the restructuring itself. Both internal communication within the management team and with all employees, as well as external communication with stakeholders and the broader public, must be strategically managed by the CRO. In doing so, the CRO must draw a clear line between confidential content and transparent communication, for example to engage financial stakeholders at an early stage without unsettling them, or to motivate employees for the necessary transformation.

Feedback from our February participants

That this comprehensive view of a CRO’s activities resonates is reflected in the feedback from our participants:

“Thank you very much for the comprehensive insight into the complex field of restructuring, provided by first-class speakers and valuable discussions with experienced participants!” – Harald Biederbick

“My key takeaway: the role of a Chief Restructuring Officer is clearly much more than ‘financial restructuring’. It combines law, governance, communication and operational implementation – under maximum time and expectation pressure.” – Philipp Kranich

“My takeaway goes even further back: a good, professional CRO who thinks and acts end to end is a friend of the company in crisis – not its enemy. Taking responsibility instead of merely pointing things out, standing by the results of one’s actions, and an entrepreneurial self-image differentiate them from PowerPoint consultants.” – Ulrich Peter Eichler

“Very comprehensive and interesting. Many thanks to all the excellent speakers!” – Tobias Gwisdalla

From our side as well, a heartfelt thank you to our participants and speakers: only through your active involvement, your questions and your practical insights does our CRO Academy come to life!
